In the middle of a news conference on dam safety Thursday, Rob Kocoras and Dan Veldman paddled straight for Hofmann Dam on the Des Plaines River in Lyons. Sodiqa Williams of Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn's staff frantically waved them off.

Not everything is as it seems with dams, one of their many problems.
