Campaigners battling to save land in Torquay, earmarked for sale by the council, want it turned into a village green.

Part of Barton Downs, Torquay, is on a money-raising sale list of almost 40 sites and elected mayor Nick Bye is due to decide on Tuesday which plots are to be sold.

The Friends of Barton Downs are to apply to the council to turn the site into a village green with the hope of thwarting the sale idea.
