Organisers of the Transat race are unsure whether a profit will be made from this year's event - despite it attracting 120,000 people.

Julian Hocken, the event's operations director, told The Herald that if a profit has been made, it will be "very modest".

The news will come as a blow to maritime and business leaders in Plymouth who are aiming to bring the epic race back to the city in 2012.
