Burmese junta allows US to start aid flights
|
THE first US aid flight to Burma has landed in the cyclone-
ravaged country after finally being granted permission.
American aid agencies have been fighting a bureaucratic battle to
help the tens of thousands of survivors after Burmese military
leaders refused to allow them access.
But in a small sign that the authorities are relaxing their
stance on accepting foreign aid, the teams have arrived in Rangoon
after flying from Thailand.
