Kent Chrisman, who led the History Museum of Western Virginia for 11 years and helped to open its now better-known sister facility, the O. Winston Link Museum, confirmed Wednesday that he has resigned.

"I resigned effective Monday," said Chrisman, who has been executive director of the history museum since 1997. "I've been there over a decade. I think it's best for me to go in one direction and them to go in another direction. We've had a wonderful 11 years."
