Grand Prix a real winner: Sporty coupe powered Pontiac's coffers, image

Pontiac is trying to regain its old high-performance image, which
helped it become one of General Motors' hottest car divisions,
especially in the 1960s. A significantly new high-volume model such
as the 1969 Grand Prix might help it do that.
Pontiac had the same lagging image problem in the late 1960s. Its
GTO, which kicked off the big muscle car market in 1964, was losing
youth appeal and facing more competition. The sporty Grand Prix
