Number of endangered gaur up in Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 10 (Xinhua) -- While most endangered species, including one-horned rhino and Royal Bengal tiger, are decreasing in number in Nepal's national park, the population of another equally important species, wild cattle popularly known as gaur, has increased to 296, a jump of 98 from the last count, local media reported on Sunday.

According the Kathmandu Post report, gaur census conducted by Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) from April 17 to 18 at the Chitwan National Park in central Nepal, there are 296 gaurs ...
