Dominique Fernandez becomes new member of French Academy
PARIS, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Dominique Fernandez, 77, a writer and
literary critic, was on Thursday elected into the French Academy in
replacement of professor Jean Bernard.
Fernandez was elected during the first round of voting by
garnering 21 of the possible 31 votes cast.
In June 2005, he was also a candidate for French Academy, but
defeated by Assia Djebar with 16 votes against 11 during the second
round of voting.
