I would like to compliment Kevin Nance on a fine article
["Architectural taxidermy?" Showcase story, Jan. 6]. It's a tragedy
that few realize that there are three William Le Baron Jenney
("Father of the Skyscraper") buildings in a row at this location, 19,
29 and 39 S. LaSalle. Where else could one find such a grouping,
except here in Chicago and at this location? The city should landmark
all three and seek the right type of developer to restore the facades
and determine a new use for the bui...
