Leatherback turtles not extinct in Malaysia: official
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Turtle and Marine Eco-
system Center (Tumec) Wednesday refuted a United Nations (UN) report
on leatherback turtles, saying the turtles are not extinct in
Malaysia.
There has been a drastic decline in the leatherback turtle
population in Malaysia, but they have not become extinct, said Tumec
head Kamaruddin Ibrahim.
Kamaruddin made the remarks in an interview with the Bernama news
