Cheese lovers: lower-salt Stilton 'would be a crime': British government wants to encourage healthier diet

A proposal by the British government to lower the salt content of
Stilton -- the distinctive blue-veined English cheese that has been
made from the same recipe for centuries -- plain stinks, cheesemakers
say.
As part of a long-range effort to improve the national diet in
England, the Food Standards Agency and the Health Department are
proposing reducing salt levels in various foods, from crumpets to
meat pies.
