Mushrooms: What you don't know could hurt you Field Museum expert says it's hard to tell safe from poisonous

You would think by now that people would have enough sense not to
eat poison mushrooms.
But every year, Field Museum mushroom expert Greg Mueller receives
30 to 40 calls asking whether the wild mushrooms patients have eaten
are poisonous.
Poison centers and hospitals take digital photos of suspect
mushrooms and e-mail them to Mueller, who identifies them free of
charge.
Now's a busy time, since mushrooms flourish in the fall. Despite
the drought, there still are plenty of mushrooms growing in
backyards, parks and forest preserves.
