"Taichi", "Kapok" win HK tropical cyclone name nomination contest

HONG KONG, May 24 (Xinhua) -- "Taichi" and "Kapok" have been selected from thousands of entries as the main winners in a tropical cyclone name nomination contest, announced the Hong Kong Observatory on Tuesday.

Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Observatory and a local radio station, the objectives of the contest are to promote public awareness of the hazards related to tropical cyclones and to enhance public understanding of the Tropical Cyclone Signal System in Hong Kong.
