Backgrounder: Auschwitz Concentration Camp: testimony to Holocaust
BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The 60th anniversary of the
liberation of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp will be commemorated
at the Auschwitz II-Birkenau site on Jan. 27.
The following is a brief introduction of the notorious camp, where
about 1.5 million people were brutally massacred in gas chambers.
The Auschwitz Concentration Camp was established by the German
Nazis in 1940, in the suburbs of the Polish city of Oswiecim, 300 km
