Periscope for the prairie At a glanceA 42-foot-tall periscope arrived in Cheyenne on Sunday after a cross-country flight on a C-130 from Rhode Island's Air National Guard. The periscope is set to be placed in the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens' upcoming Children's Garden.

CHEYENNE - A 42-foot-tall submarine periscope arrived at the Wyoming Air National Guard airstrip Sunday after traveling across the country from Rhode Island.

Originally just a hope for the master plan developed in 1997 for the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, the periscope idea became a reality when it landed here in Cheyenne on Sunday morning.
