Arts program leads new Narbonne plan
|
With its School for Advanced Studies of the Performing Arts as a
model, Narbonne High School in Harbor City is setting the stage for
an ambitious four-year plan that aims to break up the comprehensive
campus into a collection of eight autonomous "small learning
communities."
The ultimate goal is to improve graduation rates and daily
attendance. Cultivating a sense of belonging among the school's
3,400 students is difficult, and many students end up falling through
the cracks.
A typical incoming class at Narbonne might start with about 900
freshmen and only graduate about 500 students, said ...
