Plans for Rolling Hills prep school blend green ideas with landscape

A new and improved Rolling Hills Preparatory School will be an environmentally friendly campus packaged as a Spanish villa, a place where classrooms are bathed in natural light and students mingle in courtyards and study beneath shady trees.

That halcyon vision was revealed Tuesday by school and construction officials, who promised that the private prep school's new home on surplus U.S. Navy property in the San Pedro-Harbor City area will be green, aesthetically pleasing, cutting-edge and energy- efficient.
