in late 1800s.

Tucked among the Redondo Beach streets named for gems and Spanish
women sit several interlopers.
Streets such as Vincent, Spencer and, once upon a time, Fleming,
split the orderly progression of themed street names near Redondo
Union High School and serve as the only reminders of the city's brief
ties to the Chautauqua educational movement.
Established in 1874 in Chautauqua, N.Y., as a Sunday school
teacher training program, the movement's scope quickly expanded into
