As many as 250,000 people worldwide use the affectionate term for
mah-jongg, a Chinese tile game of strategy that some say has origins
in the court of the King of Wu at the time of Confucius and others
say can be traced back to the 1800s.
Some spell it mah jong or mah jongg and some call it maj or maajh.
Translated, it means "clattering sparrow," "flax sparrow," or "hemp
