Base fighter planes at major airports; Reader rejects Red Cross' plea

Base fighter planes at major airports I'm wondering why they don't
have military fighter planes based at the major airports instead of
having to come from San Diego or March Fieldor some place to take on
these fools who want to crash airplanes into buildings.
They should be based right at Los Angeles International Airport. I
worked there 42 years, so I can see the reason for it.
During the Cold War they used to have bombers based at LAX. Why
not fighter planes? -- BOBRYAN Gardena...
