THOUSANDS of pensioners are still waiting for vital travel passes - and Centro's deadline for getting them on the buses is looming.

The national concessionary scheme is set to allow free travel for pensioners on buses all over the UK after Tuesday, April 1, but 40,000 passes have still to be sent out in the West Midlands.

Centro has insisted that distribution is on schedule, but pensioner groups also have concerns over conditions.
