Thoth's music is as distinct as its name

If the group Thoth were to change members, it would spell a gigantic difference in its music.

"That's because each person is essential to the groove of the group," says saxophonist Ben Opie, whose last initial is the vowel of the band's name.

The rest the spelling comes from the TH's in the names of drummer Dave Throckmorton and bassist Paul Thompson.

Thoth will perform Friday in Squirrel Hill in an album-release party for "Thoth Speaks," its second recording.

When Thoth speaks, the voice is recognizable.
