A RICH, ENGLISH TAPESTRY

I enjoy fiction that has been well-researched, particularly if it
gives me information about a subject in which I am interested. "The
Winter Rose" fills that bill on about 10 different levels.
Set in England in 1900, it ranges far and wide. The characters
are diverse and intriguing. The location is in multiple continents.
The attention to detail speaks of exhaustive investigation.
As I read, I found myself being reminded of the England of
Charles Dickens, particularly "Oliver Twist" and "Great
Expectations." The scenes so disturbingly painted by William Hogarth
in the 18th century spring ...
