BEDFORD RESIDENTS SEEK PLACE TO SKATE

Brian Hilbish of Bedford was skateboarding long before it was an
extreme sport or a multimillion-dollar industry.
"I was chased off of streets and sidewalks in Lynchburg in the
'70s," the 49-year-old said.
Hilbish said he wants the skate park to be a place that youth,
such as his 14-year-old son Jake, can use without having to
congregate on public streets and sidewalks, which can become an
issue with police.
And it appears that Hilbish's skate park idea is no pipe dream:...
