'Treasure chest' is here and waiting to help you

In 1991, local councillor Sue Smith (nee Constantine) realised there was a need in areas of Grimsby to provide items of furniture and household goods at affordable prices to the impoverished.

She collected donated items and sold them from her car boot, and Community Chest was born.

A decade later and the registered charity continues to go from strength to strength.

The Community Chest is based around its warehouse depot on Kent Street, in Grimsby, where furniture is taken in and any necessary repairs are carried out. The success and importance of the charity is recognised in the fact that it ...
