SEYMOUR -- How sweet it is.

The town's only free-standing bakery -- Seymour Pastries & Cakes - - is poised to open Saturday, just in time for Thanksgiving and the busy holiday season.

Local baker Joao Barros is putting the finishing touches on the former Elm Food catering building at Pearl and Maple streets prior to his grand opening.

"Opening my own bakery is a lifelong dream come true," Barros said.
