With a laying of hands, state's first female Episcopal bishop is ordained

The Rev. Laura J. Ahrens, vested only in a plain white alb, stood
before 19 assembled bishops as Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefforts
Schori asked 1,500 people, "Is it your will that we ordain Laura a
bishop?"
When the resounding answer, "We will!" echoed through Woolsey
Hall Saturday, Ahrens gave a quick look up toward the ceiling.
Later, greeting members of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut
and others after her consecration as suffragan bishop, Ahrens said
