Madison man takes helm of state bar

As the new president of the 132-year-old Connecticut Bar Association, William H. Prout Jr. of Madison has his eye firmly on the future.

Prout, a partner at Wiggin and Dana LLP in New Haven, took over as the group's 84th president Sunday, for the 2007-2008 term. He replaces Norman K. Janes of Middletown.

The last area lawyer to lead the state association was John W. Hogan Jr., in 2003-04.

Prout, 62, a Branford native, joined Wiggin and Dana in 1973 and was named partner in 1979. After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology from Yale University, Prout earned his law degree at Boston ...
