Marr's 'The Flagellants' will go to Munich

Carl von Marr's "The Flagellants" -- a wonderfully strange and incredibly large painting -- at the Museum of Wisconsin Art will be lent to the Haus der Kunst in Munich, Germany, for a special exhibit, the West Bend museum said Tuesday.

In the painting, crowds of devout believers process through the plague-ridden streets of 14th-century Italy, scourging themselves with iron-tipped whips in an attempt to redeem themselves and the world.
