Location Sardinia lies in the middle of the Mediterranean sea below Corsica and 120 miles west of the Italian mainland.

It is the second-largest island in the Med, roughly the size of Wales.

Sardinia is an autonomous region of Italy where residents speak both Italian and a local dialect. The Italian influence is strong but the people describe themselves as Sardinians first and foremost.
