Nine months after opening Spare Parts Gallery on Ninth Street, owners of the eclectic shop are preparing to close their doors.

Lisa Bartlett, one of the shop's owners, said a new tenant has been found for the space, which will no longer be used as a gallery. Spare Parts could be out of the space as soon as the end of February, but no date has been set.

The problem for Spare Parts was one that often weighs heavy on small businesses: money.

"We sold a lot of art - over $14,000 went directly to local artists," said the gallery owners in an e-mail message to their artists and partisans. "Now, ...
