Region named as hot spot for seaweed and algae

The virtues of Cornwall's natural beauty have inspired many a
poet and painter.
But it is a sure bet that none have been moved to compose an ode
or attempt to capture the beauty on canvas of one of the Duchy's
richest assets - algae.
Indeed, to the untrained eye, algae and seaweed might resemble a
slime that is best avoided. A new study says the Westcountry is a
hot spot for this particular plantlife - with Falmouth, the Helford
River and West Cornwall teeming with rare species and unusual
habitats.
Dr Juliet Brodie, of the Natural History Museum, said: "Very
