Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. said Friday they will team to pursue an Air Force contract that could be worth $10 billion to develop a next-generation, long-range bomber aircraft.

Northrop Grumman Corp., a rival which developed the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, said it would expect to compete for the new contract.

Once the Pentagon chooses a contractor for the bomber program, it would be managed by the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base.
