When Tootie Burns trains her mind's eye on her neighbor's curb-
side refuse, she sees possibilities.
She made the mirror hanging over her fireplace with donated wood
and cut squares of colorful soda cans collected from the recycling
sacks of her neighbors. "There's about a thousand nails in there, as
well as some of my DNA," Burns said. "We joke that the entire
neighborhood's DNA is in there."
Burns, 42, creates mirrored glass mosaics and has a pay-it-
forward attitude about art....
