Wooster namesake is a kind of 'Puritan patron saint'

WOOSTER -- When brothers John and Joseph Larwill went looking for an appropriate moniker for the town they started hewing out of the northeast Ohio wilderness in 1808, they opted for the name Wooster, in honor of Revolutionary War hero Brig. Gen. David Wooster of the Connecticut Militia.

The Larwill family likely had known Wooster when he served as a U.S. diplomat to England, and had overwhelming respect for the man who also is considered to be the father of Freemasonry in Connecticut.
