Illinois is a hotbed of volleyball talent, and much of that talent can be found on the 2003 Chicago Sun-Times All-Area Girls Volleyball Team.

Junior Nellie Spicer followed older sisters Megan, Betsy and Annie to star athletically at Barrington. After helping the Fillies finish second in the Class AA tournament as a sophomore, Spicer moved to setter this fall and led Barrington to a record seventh Mid-Suburban League title.
