CALGARY, Alberta -- Scott Nichol was one of the few worthwhile acquisitions the Blackhawks made when Mike Smith was their general manager.

Nichol was the fourth-line center for his hometown Calgary Flames the last two seasons, and tonight he plays his first game as a Hawk at the Flames' Pengrowth Saddledome. His parents still live in Calgary.
