A MAN who died ten days after being attacked in front of his girlfriend hours into the New Year was today described as a "loving and caring young man".

Electrician Lea Byrne was left with serious head injuries after being set upon in Ormond Road, Frankley, in the early hours of January 1.

Police said Mr Byrne, aged 24, from Frankley, was the innocent victim of an unprovoked attack. He died of his injuries in hospital yesterday.
