LIGHT OF 'DEMON STAR' FLARES AND DIMS IN JANUARY

Philosophers more than 400 years ago taught that the starry domain was orderly and perfect while the Earth embodied disharmony and imperfection. They saw the stars as putting forth a constant light, a sign of their true perfection. Evidently, these revered sages didn't get out much at night.

Anyone who carefully studies the night sky soon realizes that not all stars shine unvaryingly. The brightness of a handful of stars fluctuates, some over a few hours, others over many months.
