The wisdom at times sounded downright logical and even a bit homespun, but because the Dalai Lama delivered it to a capacity crowd Sunday at the Pepsi Center, it seemed to carry an inordinate amount of heft.

But that was something the Dalai Lama tried to dispel from almost the first moments of his speech.

"Mentally, emotionally, we are the same," he said. "I am just one of you."
