New Orleans drops DNC bid Denver one of three cities still vying to host Democrats

Denver's odds of hosting the 2008 Democratic National Convention
increased Thursday when New Orleans backed out as a contender,
leaving three cities as finalists.
Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said he wasn't surprised New
Orleans balked.
"It's hurricane season and that makes it tricky," he said. "They
were certainly a sentimental favorite, but after Katrina it will take
a few years before people feel comfortable. I think they will come
back, though. It's a great city."
