In October 2003, it wouldn't be a big deal for supporters of gay
and lesbian rights to speak out at a Denver City Council meeting.
In October 1973, it was.
"Seventy-three was a very closeted, fearful gay community - police
harassment, people afraid to lose their jobs if their bosses found
out," retired attorney Jerry Gerash recounted Monday night.
But on Oct. 23, 1973, Gerash and more than 250 others jammed the
