HARSH REPORT CLEARS OFFICER DA WON'T CHARGE WESTMINSTER COP IN FATAL SHOOTING

Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter on Tuesday sharply criticized
the fatal shooting of a burglary suspect in September but said he
will not charge the off-duty Westminster police officer who opened
fire.
In a letter to Westminster Police Chief Dan Montgomery, Ritter
questioned Officer Karl Scherck's decision to confront the suspect -
a 47-year-old ex-convict who came at him with a board - without help
