RACINE NEARS MOMENT OF TRUTH U.S. BOBSLEDDER PUTS THE TURMOIL ON HOLD AS SHE GOES FOR GOLD

As American bobsledder Jean Racine rockets down the icy track this afternoon, there will be two empty seats in the stands and one big hole in her heart.

Her mother and biggest supporter, Cathy Racine, died last year after a failed kidney transplant, attempted as she battled a rare autoimmune disease.

Her father won't be here, either. David Racine, facing charges of criminal sexual assault, is home in Waterford, Mich.

"I'll be glued to the television," he said.
