Escape the grind and move to your own old water mill
|
So much is being talked about these days on alternative energy
that we tend to forget that water power has been used in Britain
since Roman times.
Originally it was used for grinding corn, but with the rise of the
cloth industry in the late Middle Ages it played a vital role in the
early mechanisation of textile production.
Many villages had a mill, and one was to be found in the
Wiltshire village of North Wraxall, 11 miles from Chippenham.
