How many pancakes can you eat?

Alex Eckard, 17, may not be the most suitable contender for a pancake-eating contest; he doesn't even like pancakes.

"The taste of pancakes makes me gag," Alex said.

Ironically, this is Alex's third year competing alongside fellow Central High School teammates at the 11th annual pancake-eating contest at the Lions Clubs' annual Pancake Days at the Mayes Memorial Army National Guard Armory.

Three teams represented Central, Bishop LeBlond and Lafayette high schools Saturday. Each team was allowed four members and had 12 minutes to eat as many pancakes as possible.
