School lands marine biology program

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Missouri hasn't been near or covered by the ocean
in 30 million to 40 million years. But that's not stopping Northwest
Missouri State University from offering a marine biology program.
Northwest's Board of Regents approved the program, which won't
require the hiring of any new staff, last week. The school is waiting
on the approval of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher
Education, which should take a couple of months. The school plans to
begin the program in the fall semester.
