Ryan pal's wife on CTA panel Replaces board member under indictment

Gov. Ryan is giving his friend's wife a seven-year appointment to
the CTA board, replacing a man who has been accused of laundering
money to hide payments to the governor's cronies and his daughter.
Ryan tapped Cynthia A. Panayotovich, whose husband, Sam, was the
state's top liquor cop, to replace Alan Drazek, whose term on the CTA
board expired a few months ago. The state Senate must confirm the
appointment.
Panayotovich, 52, of south suburban Lansing, will be paid $25,000
a year when she starts her term on Dec. 2, a day after she takes
