Canadian National Railway to cut 1,146 jobs
|
MONTREAL--Canadian National Railway said Tuesday it is cutting
1,146 jobs, or about 5 percent of its work force, in a bid to improve
productivity and curb rising labor costs.
Canada's biggest railway company also said it will charge 252
million Canadian dollars ($160 million) against its earnings for
severance costs and other expenses.
Canadian National Railway spans Canada and mid-America, from the
Atlantic and Pacific oceans to the Gulf of Mexico, serving major
