Queen Victoria purchased dessert set

Minton was founded in 1793 by Thomas Minton and Joseph and Samuel
Poulson. Colin Minton Campbell, pictured, came to the Potteries from
Liverpool in 1842, to join the family firm. At the Great Exhibition
in 1851, Queen Victoria purchased a 116-piece dessert service to
present to the Emperor of Austria, before ordering a second set for
herself. The best-known Minton pattern is Haddon Hall, designed by
John Wadsworth. Minton is renowned for its intricate gold patterns,
and one-off plates can cost more than pounds5,000. Royal Doulton
